Transcript FAQs

     WHAT’S ON IT?

  • Identifying information: Name, Address, Birthdate, Course of Study, Expected Graduation Date
  • The courses you have taken each year and the grades/credits you have earned
  • Weighted and unweighted quality points for each course
  • A list of the courses you are taking the current school year
  • Your Weighted and Unweighted GPA
  • Your Class Rank
  • Your Total Credits Earned
  • Standardized Test Scores: EOG, Computer Skills, EOCs, SAT/ACT, AP
  • Yearly Attendance Record
  • Immunizations

WHAT’S NOT ON IT?

  • Awards, Achievements, Extra-curricular Activities
  • Discipline Record
  • Volunteer or Work Experience

WHERE DO I GET ONE and WHAT IS THE COST?

  • Counseling Office
  • Transcripts are “free” while you are still a student at WCHS; after graduation or withdrawal from WCHS, transcripts are $2 per request.

HOW DO I GET ONE?

  • Complete the transcript form on the clipboard at the Registrar’s desk (Ms. Willardl)
  • Print your name legibly and record your WCHS student #
  • Indicate if you want to pick it up or if you want the Registrar to give to your Counselor or to mail it and to where
  • Allow at least 48 hours notice before you need it
  • Remember to pick it up if you checked “will pick up”

WHAT’S “OFFICIAL” vs “UNOFFICIAL”?

  • Official transcripts are stamped and sealed by the Registrar; they are not to be opened by anyone other than the intended recipient (college/university, scholarship committee, etc.); colleges/universities require official transcripts. Do NOT open official transcripts.
  • If you want to see your transcript, request an unofficial copy that is not stamped and sealed.

SHOULD I REQUEST A TRANSCRIPT TO BE MAILED OR SHOULD I PICK IT UP?

  • If you are applying to a college online, request that the transcript be mailed directly to the college/university AFTER you have submitted your college application.
  • If you are mailing a paper application or letters of recommendation, it would be best to enclose all the items in one large envelope.  Remember to leave the official transcript in the original WCHS envelope that has been sealed.

WHY AREN’T MY AWARDS AND EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES LISTED?

  • Transcripts are official records of the institution.  West Carteret does not track and verify students’ extracurricular activities, awards, or recognitions for the official document.
  • If you need a record, prepare your own personal resume of activities, awards, achievements, volunteer or work experiences to include with your application.
